Right up there with <strong>Hitch</strong>. John Cusack has only gotten better with age....ever since <strong>High Fidelity</strong> I have enjoyed his movies more and more. There was a lot of humor and Christopher Plummer and Stockard Channing are a great addition! I was disappointed to not see more scenes betwee Diane Lane and John Cusack. It was very colorful and humorus! There were lots of minor differences....like the umpah loompah song is never played (that might have been what creeped me out with the first movie) and there seem to be lots of flashbacks where Willy Wonka seems almost like he is high or something.....just a tad bizarre! I didn't like though how his voice sounded like Dr. Evil a lot..... </span><br /><span style="font-family:lucida grande;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:lucida grande;">Charlie (played by the same boy who was Peter in Finding Neverland) is very cute in this movie! The rest of the children are just as annoying as the first bunch but everyone in the theater with me got excited when Mike Teavee is from "Denver, Colorado" :-) Johnny Depp, while having a weird haircut (a cross between Lloyd in Dumb and Dumber mixed with a mullet), does a great job as Willy Wonka. I hope he continues to do the "family" movies that he has been doing (Pirates of the Caribbean and Finding Neverland) as he seems to do well in them. </span><br /><span style="font-family:lucida grande;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:lucida grande;">I was excited to see a preview for <span style="color:#990000;"><strong>The Legend of Zorro</strong></span> with Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones and also saw a preview for <span style="color:#3366ff;"><strong>Ice Age 2</strong></span>!!!
